What is the fix for this issue? Why hasn't the bug been fixed, when it concerns a fairly core functionality (one that did not have this issue prior to iOS 14, from what I have been able to read). 1 A recurring iOS bug that makes Apple's Messages app send read receipts despite the setting being disabled appears to be on the upswing again, based on reports from users running iOS 15. My iPhone has been rebooted, turned off, and on/off settings toggled, and the issue keeps recurring. I have done some looking around for resolutions, and I have not found a permanent fix. A single check mark shows the message was received by the Signal server. However, it randomly re-starts showing Read Receipts, without warning (and the setting still shows as OFF). Signal Signal shows message statuses by default, although you can turn them off if you wish. Scroll to Send Read Receipts and tap the toggle by this option to turn it off. To enable read receipts for everyone who texts you, go to Settings > Messages on your iPhone. Open the Settings app, then scroll down to and tap Messages. In iOS, with read receipts enabled (Settings -> Messages -> Send Read Receipts), the 'Delivered' text that a person sees under an iMessage they have sent you turns to 'Read' when youve. I am usually able to resolve this (temporarily) by toggling the Read Receipts setting on and off a couple of times. How to Turn Apple iMessage Read Receipts On and Off Enable All Read Receipts. Every few weeks, a friend will let me know that my iMessages are showing Read Receipts, even though the setting is still confirmed OFF. This contact will no longer be able to see when you open a message from them. Scroll down to the Send Read Receipts option. Tap the contact’s profile icon above the conversation. It has performed as intended until iOS 14. Select a conversation with the contact for whom you want to turn off read receipts. Tap on the conversation for which you would like to turn read receipts on or off. I always have the setting for Read Receipts in iMessages turned OFF. Launch the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad. For the last couple of months (during which I was running some version of iOS 14), I have been having intermittent and unpredictable issues with Read Receipts. I am running iOS 14.4.2 (no further updates available at this time).
